If you have any questions to ask, feel free to post in the Ask A Simple Question, Get A Simple Answer Thread or right here . But you must read the information first before asking.

----------
Why should I read this long thread? It takes up a lot of my time.
----------
You'd never know what is required in this forum. It will guide you through a lot of things, and save time from asking questions that may irritate other members.

----------
The Rules made Simple

You will follow every rule of The Gifted Forums.
You will follow every rule of The Gifted forums!
Read rule number four.
Read rule number three.
Punishment for breaking rules MIGHT BE made less for new members.
When you see someone else breaking the rules, use the report button at the top-right hand corner of their post and DO NOT scold them in your own post.
Don't use swear words or I'll kill you personally.
Do not insult any member in any way.
Don't spam (Do not create meaningless topics or post posts that have hardly any meaning like "I agree").
Don't make threads in irrelevant forums places.
Read this thread.
Do not mini-mod, which is to tell other members what they should do and should not do.
-------------------
Consequences
-----------------
If you do not obey these forum rules, there will be consequences.
If you do not follow the rules, your actions can result in consequences such as
your post getting deleted or edited
the topic getting locked or edited
a warning (which has its own consequences if you get enough)
a temp. ban
a longer temp. ban
a possible permanent ban

Do not complain or get angry if one of the above actions has happened. If it has, there should always be a reason. If you fail to see why it happened or how the rules were disobeyed, then simply send a pm to an admin (to the one that locked it if you know who that is).

Now read what's below, I didn't waste all my effort doing this...

Inserting Polls
You might have noticed some threads have polls. Well, if you had made the thread, you can insert a poll. When making a thread, at the bottom of the page, there will be an option that says "Add A Poll". From there you set what you want.

Follow the instructions.

Spam
This is extremely important. The veteran members will get annoyed by you and you'll get warnings immediately. Most mods do not give chances, even to newbies. Although there are warnings, if you have read the rules. According to some other members, spam is going off topic, short meaningless post that have no sense at all, either to the current topic or just rubbish. Spam is also making many threads in a short time span. Please space out your posting. Short posts like "I agree with you" or "Oh" or "Sorry" are also considered spam.

Most posts should generally be about a full sentence (or about 7 words) or longer, otherwise it will be considered spam. However, there are a few exceptions, such as vouches. Also, there should not be ongoing conversations between only a couple of people in a topic. For example, if two or three people are posting posts that are directed at each other several times, despite the relevance to the topic, it will be considered spam. If you are looking to have a long discussion between just you and one or two others, do it while instant messaging, or form a pm thread. It is unfair for your post count to be increased from a simple conversation you want to have with a friend(s). An example of an ongoing conversation would go something like this:
So let's say this were a topic about Naruto.
"Bob: I think that Naruto is the best
Jim: I think that Sasuke is the best
Joe: I agree with bob
Jim: Sasuke is better than naruto because he doesn't wear a queer jumpsuit
Joe: But Naruto has more potential, plus, he can use rasengan!
Bob: Not only that, but naruto invented his own justsu too xD"
A way to do something like this without spamming is to say who you like the best , along with all of your reasoning. You can also start a pm thread, (send a pm to the people/person that you want to talk about it, and use the reply feature), or you can start an instant messaging convo.

"Spamming includes posting "Favorite" threads and meaningless topics. It is a stupid, pointless, and (to some) an annoying message. No intelligent discussion can come from a SPAM topic, such as "What is your favorite ____?" Posting spam topics will result in a warning, and depending on future infractions, either warnings or bans.
First and foremost, spam is ANY post/thread that is nonsensical, does not contain much meaning, does not have anything to do with the first post."

Nick: The best way to create a topic that does not inhibit spam is to create a topic that is right to the point and has no possibility of off-topic posts. It is never good to make a topic to ask a single question. If you do have to such topic, make it a question that can also help others. However, it is always MUCH better to post in an already existing topic, rather than make a new one.

Threads (double posting)

Do not double or multiple post. This seems to be less of a problem. The moderators do not like it, so please refrain from it as much as possible. Try to use the edit button instead, which can be found at the top-right corner of every single one of your posts in an open thread..

Flaming/Trolling
Flaming can also be called trolling. Members insult each other, on any forum, quite often. Of course, it can be an accident or on purpose. But members often retaliate and start a flame war. This is what mods do not want. Most of you will get your post edited or deleted. Also refrain from using vulgarities. It will damage not only your reputation, but the entire forum's. Think about others. In order to prevent a flame war if you have been insulted, use the report button, and a moderator will handle it.

We will not tolerate flaming whatsoever, and it will quickly lead to warnings and bans. We want our forums to be friendly so that people are not afraid of posting out of the fear of being insulted. If someone directs an insult at you, do not insult them back. If you see a flame war in progress or an insult to another member, please use the Report Button as soon as possible before more peoples' feelings are hurt.

Reporting
When you do the ill-advised things stated above, most likely irritated veteran members will report you. What is reporting? Well, at the bottom of every single post, there will be a button that says "report!". You can use this button to report a post that you feel is against the rules. But please do not abuse the report button. Do not report a post several times, even if no moderator has done anything to it. If nothing has been done (wait at least a day), that means there is no objectionable content in the post.

Mini-Modding
Mini-modding is, put simply, telling another member off for not posting according to the rules. It is not excepted in this forum and is reserved only for the moderators. Please click here for more details.

Account Management (Signatures, title, username, etc.)
This section concerns stuff like PMs (private messages) and your profile and options. Most settings can be changed using the User Control Panel, otherwise known as the User CP or Profile, which has a link that can be found near the top of the page.

Private Messaging System
PLEASE DO NOT SEND SPAM PMs TO OTHERS! Some people do not like their inbox spammed up. Please note that our inboxes have limited space to receive PMs. After all, they can report PMs to moderators. However, if you have any questions, feel free to PM me.

Posting Effectively

Point One: You should be considering whether what you post will be beneficial to the discussion of the thread. To make it as beneficial as possible, they should try to elaborate their point as best as they can so it is clear to everyone else

Point Number Two: Posting criticism without any reasons why they are critical is not beneficial. It is also not beneficial if you criticise and do not give suggestions.

Point Number Three: Forums are not like a chatroom, where people post quickly to keep up with the flow of conversation. Each post must have elaboration. In the forum, posts move slowly. You must say everything in ONE post. If you have something to add after posting, edit your post. In your posts, you must also give reasons on why you think a certain way.

Members who do not follow these rules will receive warnings. If you recieve multiple warnings you will be temporarily banned, and even more will get you Permanently banned. (Well, probably not, but...DON'T DO IT)

Thank You Very Much

Avery Out.

P.S. If you have any questions or if you are having trouble understanding any of these rules, please send a pm to an admin and they will give you an answer.
